The count
From Monday, October 12, 2026 to Christmas Day, there are 54 weekdays, and if you take out Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26) that's 53 working days. You've also got 10 weekends. Christmas itself falls on a Friday this year, so the last working day before the holiday for most US offices is Thursday, December 24, though plenty of companies close early or give the day off. The live number above uses your device's date.
Why business days matter
Shipping companies, banks and most offices only count weekdays. If a store says 'ships in 5–7 business days,' a Friday order might not leave until the following week. That's why the last safe day for ground shipping usually lands in mid-December, and why 'two days before Christmas' is way too late for most deliveries.
Deadlines to work backwards from
Black Friday is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30. The first full week of December is when I try to finish online orders. Mid-December is the usual cutoff for standard ground shipping in the US. Anything later than about December 21 means paying for express, so check each carrier's published holiday dates.
For teams and freelancers
If you're planning a project, count roughly 53 working days minus any vacation. Many people take the week between Christmas and New Year's off, so if something has to ship 'before the holidays,' your real deadline is probably Friday, December 18. Send invoices early too; accounts payable departments slow down at year end.
